Reading Together Discovers Georgian and British Classics

At last Saturday's gathering, the young readers learned about 18th century Georgian writer Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani, who journeyed to Europe seeking aid for Georgia. The group read some of his imaginatively titled tales like "Sibrdzne Sitsruisa" ("Wisdom of Lies"), deciphering archaic words that connect to modern vocabulary.

Continuing with Roald Dahl's "Matilda," they became engrossed in Matilda's father's disreputable used car sales tricks. Matilda is outraged by her father's dishonesty. Exploring varied books across time and place, these young bibliophiles eagerly await which stories they will share next Saturday.
