Zaza Bibilashvili's interview with FirstNews.ge

“The brutal murder of Lekso Lashkarava is a calamity of such magnitude that no one can ignore it. Not even those who for years directly promoted organized religious extremists, which ransacked and vandalized Tbilisi on July 5, together with the Georgian Dream Government” - said Zaza Bibilashvili, the founder of the Chavchavadze Center in an interview with FirstNews.ge.

“There was little choice but to express protest, if one had a claim on elementary humanity (however, "Imedi" and "PosTV" managed to distinguish themselves here again, which doesn't surprise anyone any more). Nevertheless, there are great differences among protesters. Many probably wish to turn MP Gharibashvili into a scapegoat and sacrifice him in order to save Ivanishvili's regime. Many may really want to end Ivanishvili's regime, but unintentionally, they act as repellents for many people who would otherwise protest. As for the ultimatums, before issuing an ultimatum, one should have a good idea of what the plans is in case of non-compliance. We remember lots of ultimatums issued in recent years, but no further action whatsoever. Let's see if anything different happens this time," - said Zaza Bibilashvili.

“Current developments in the country are Russia's message to the US, NATO and the European Union that Georgia is its sphere of Russia’s influence and that Kremlin won't allow the Americans to gain foothold here. At the same time, on July 5, Russia, through the authorities and the Patriarchate, showed the West that Georgia is a country of savages and doesn't deserve to be part of a civilized Western family of nations. It is obvious that we are dealing with a very smart and ruthless enemy. The same way Russia acted through the Abkhaz and Ossetian separatists against Georgia and pretended to be a mediator, Georgian Dream government uses the “independent mobs” to do its deeds, and assures the world that it has nothing to do with it. In fact, Ivanishvili's government – and those who wield real power (not fig leaves like chair of Georgian Parliament) – are behind the whole thing,” said Zaza Bibilashvili in a conversation with us.
