Veriko Ubiria about Chavchavadze Center projects

Today’s meeting was extremely emotional and interesting. I watched every moment with trembling and heartache. These movies made us feel the situation of that time, even talking about it turned out to be very difficult to me. We will never fully understand and feel the pain of the people who lived through the time and eye-witnessed the killings, rapes and tortures which were part of daily life. We will never be able to feel their pain to a full extent, and probably it is good. However, every young person must know what happened at that time, feel and analyze the past. Thank you to the Chavchavadze Center for giving us this opportunity to reflect. Thank you to the people who shared their experiences with us. None of us, who attended, will ever forget the tears of Mr. Gogokhia, the author of the diaries, who said “don’t ever give up your homeland at any price”. It was a drop in the sea that we had heard before. It is very important that documentaries will save our history – we have seen this too and my generation will continue this story with dignity, will make right conclusions and towards future hopefully avoiding the mistakes of the past.
