Gia Japaridze joins the Center as Senior Fellow

The Chavchavadze Center is delighted to announce that as Gia (Gaioz) Japaridze has joined the Center as Senior Fellow as of January 2020.

Gia Japaridze is a former Diplomat, who currently lectures at the University of Georgia’s School of International Relations and Political Science. He is also a visiting professor at several Georgian universities. Prior to returning to Georgia, Gia had a distinguished career with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, serving his country in various capacities.

He served as Charge d’Affaires and Head of the Diplomatic Mission of Embassy of Georgia to the Republic of Cyprus (2012-2013) and Charge d’Affaires and Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Georgia to the Republic of Portugal (2010-2011). He also served as a consular officer and Counselor of the Embassy of Georgia to the Hellenic Republic; Counselor, Department of European Affairs, Division of Balkan States;

Gia graduated from Tbilisi State University (Department of Classical Philology, 1996) and the University of Athens, Greece (Political Science and Public Administration, 2007). Gia speaks and published frequently on Georgian and international politics, focusing on the Balkans, the Mediterranean, Greece, Cyprus, Turkey, the EU and the US as well as Lusophone countries.
