Project “Common Sense: Civil Society vis-à-vis Politics” in Akhaltsikhe

On July 28, implementation of “Project Common Sense: Civil Society vis-a-vis Politics” was launched in Akhaltsikhe. At the beginning of the session, Director of the Center Nino Kalandadze spoke about the Chavchavadze Center and the project. Master classes were held throughout the day with the team of highly qualified experts at the Civic Engagement Center, within different sessions.

Within the project, there was an active discussion on “What does it mean to be a good citizen?”. Then Professor Gia Japaridze delivered a thematic master class on “Modern Foreign Policy of Georgia, Eastern Partnership and Perspective of Euro-Atlantic Integration”.

Founder of Ilia Chavchavadze Center Zaza Bibilashvili delivered a thematic master class on topic “Common Sense and Citizenship – Georgian Society Facing New Challenges”. Participants discussed challenges facing the Samtskhe-Javakheti region as well as new ideas and initiatives.

After the master class of Professor Mariam Gersamia on Art of Debating, participants took part in mock debates. The topics were selected by participants themselves after analyzing the challenges in the region. Interesting questions were addressed after the master class of Lika Sanikidze on “Project Financing and Donor Relations”. Participants discussed identifying problems in the region and expected outcomes and future plans.

At the end of the event, certificate award ceremony took place.
