Film Screening and Discussion in Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani University

On September 25, the Chavchavadze Center held a film screening in SabaUni (Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani University of Tbilisi). The event was held in the framework of “Youth for Justice with Zaza Bibilashvili” – a project generously supported by Dutch organizations #D66 and #IDI.

The participants viewed “Rashomon”, a 1950 classic film by a great Japanese film-maker Akira Kurosawa, based on two short stories by Ryūnosuke Akutagawa. The screening was followed by a lengthy and lively discussion on the issues of good citizenship, civic virtue, the Rashomon Effect and the prception of reality in the information age.

The screenings are hosted by Zaza Bibilashvili, founder of the Chavchavadze Center. Our guest speaker was assistant-professor Arina Tavakarashvili, a well-known civic activist based in Gori.
