Movie Screening and Discussion in the office of Chavchavadze Center

On March 24, another Movie Screening and Discussion on the issues of citizenship and justice was held in the office of Ilia Chavchavadze Center for European Studies and Civic Education. The Discussion was lead by Zaza Bibilashvili, a founder of Chavchavadze Center and Mariam Gersamia, a media psychologist and professor. “Freedom Writers” directed by Richard LaGravenese was displayed. After screening the movie, the discussion was held on the topics such as freedom and individual responsibility, the influence of stereotypes on human behavior and mindset, and the role of education and teacher in transforming the society. During the event, the soviet past of Georgia and challenges of the educational system was discussed as well.

It has already been three years since the project “Youth for Justice with Zaza Bibilashvili” is being held by the Chavchavadze Center with the support of Dutch Fund D66 and IDI. During this time, dozens of Movie Screening and Discussion events have been held in the regions of and educational institutions of Georgia. Within the framework of the project, the Center cooperates with the higher educational institutions, private and public schools, and local non-governmental organizations.
